Community Guidelines

Kaleido Travel is built on real experiences shared by real travellers. These guidelines exist to keep the community helpful, honest, and welcoming for everyone. All content you submit — tips, reviews, photos, voice notes, and journey stories — must follow these rules.
By posting on Kaleido you confirm you have read and agree to these guidelines and our Terms of Service.
Our Core Principles
- Be honest. Share your genuine experiences. Don't invent, exaggerate, or mislead.
- Be helpful. Post content that other travellers would actually find useful.
- Be respectful. Disagree with venues or other users' opinions without being rude or personal.
- Be safe. Don't share information (yours or anyone else's) that could put someone at risk.
Tips and Reviews
We encourage
DO Great content looks like this:
- First-hand observations: wait times, crowd levels, hidden gems, insider shortcuts.
- Honest ratings that reflect your actual experience, not a favour to the venue.
- Practical details: parking, accessibility, best time to visit, what to order.
- Constructive criticism: factual and specific, not venting or personal attacks.
- Updates when things change — closed, renovated, new hours, etc.
We do not allow
DON'T Content that will be removed:
- Fake or incentivised reviews: Don't post reviews in exchange for payment, discounts, upgrades, or any other benefit. Don't post reviews for venues you haven't visited.
- Spam: Repetitive, copy-pasted, or low-effort content posted to farm points.
- Self-promotion: Tips or reviews written by venue owners, staff, or affiliates about their own business (or competitors) without clear disclosure.
- Misleading information: False claims about safety, accessibility, hours, prices, or other facts that other travellers rely on.
- Off-topic content: Tips or reviews that aren't about the actual venue or experience.
Photos and Media
DO
- Post photos you took yourself, or images you have clear rights to share.
- Capture the venue honestly — don't use deceptive angles or heavy editing to misrepresent it.
- Respect people's privacy: avoid clearly identifiable faces without consent, especially of children.
DON'T
- Upload copyrighted images from other websites, marketing materials, or stock photo services.
- Post photos of other people's private spaces, hotel rooms (beyond your own), changing areas, or anywhere that would violate their privacy.
- Upload nudity, sexual content, or graphic violence.
- Post content that could endanger someone's safety (e.g., exposing a person's location or identity without consent).
Voice Recordings
- Only record and upload audio of yourself or people who have consented to being recorded.
- Recording laws vary by location — ensure you comply with local wiretapping and consent laws.
- Voice tips must follow the same content standards as text tips (see above).
Hate Speech and Harassment
Kaleido Travel has zero tolerance for:
- Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination against any person or group based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic.
- Slurs, dehumanising language, or content designed to intimidate.
- Harassment or targeted abuse of other users.
- Threats of violence or encouragement of self-harm.
Such content will be removed immediately and the account will be permanently banned.
Privacy and Personal Information
- Do not post other people's private information — addresses, phone numbers, emails, financial details, or government ID numbers.
- Do not use Kaleido to stalk, track, or monitor any person without their knowledge and consent.
- Journeys and stops you mark as Public will be visible to all Kaleido users. Use the Private setting for personal or sensitive locations.
Children's Safety
Any content that sexualises, endangers, or exploits minors is strictly prohibited and will be reported to the appropriate authorities (including NCMEC where applicable). This includes text, images, video, and audio.
Illegal Content and Activities
Do not post content that:
- Promotes, glorifies, or facilitates illegal activity.
- Infringes copyright, trademarks, or other intellectual property.
- Constitutes defamation or libel.
- Violates any applicable law in your jurisdiction or the jurisdiction of the venue being reviewed.
Venue Accuracy
The Kaleido community depends on accurate venue data. Please:
- Confirm or correct a stop's venue name if auto-detection is wrong.
- Mark venues as permanently closed if you know they no longer exist.
- Do not deliberately mis-tag stops at incorrect venues.
Reporting Content
If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the Report button within the App (tap and hold any tip, review, or photo). We review all reports and aim to respond within 48 hours for serious violations.

Enforcement
Depending on the severity and history, violations may result in:
- Content removal — the offending tip, photo, or review is deleted.
- Warning — you receive an in-app notification explaining the violation.
- Points deduction — points awarded for violating content are reversed.
- Temporary suspension — your ability to post is restricted.
- Permanent ban — your account is terminated and you are prohibited from creating new accounts.
We may escalate serious violations (CSAM, threats of violence) to law enforcement without prior notice.
Appeals
If you believe content was removed in error, or your account was actioned unfairly, email jamievan44@hotmail.com with the subject line "Content Appeal". We will review and respond within 7 business days.
Changes to These Guidelines
These guidelines may be updated as the community grows. We'll notify you of significant changes via the App. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised guidelines.
